Student Bus ("we", "us", "our") operates the Student Bus mobile application and website studentbus.in. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you use our school bus tracking service in India.
We comply with applicable Indian laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), to the extent applicable to our operations.

2. Who uses Student Bus
- Institution admins (18+) — register and manage schools, buses, routes, and drivers.
- Drivers — accounts created by institution admins; share bus GPS during active trips.
- Parents / legal guardians (18+) — register, subscribe, and track subscribed buses.
- Students — may register with permission from a parent/guardian or school.
Our service is designed for institute transport safety for schools and colleges. We track the institute bus during active trips — not covert 24/7 tracking of anyone's personal phone or a minor's device.

Student Bus shows live vehicle location during active trips. Only subscribed users linked to that bus can view it. We do not sell location data or use it for advertising.
3. Information we collect
Account & profile
- Name, email address, phone number (where applicable)
- Role (admin, driver, parent, student)
- Institution, bus, route, and stop associations
- Child/student name linked by parent (where provided)
Location data
- Bus location: GPS from the driver's device during active school trips
- Parent/student: map display may use device location in the foreground (optional)
Device & technical
- Device identifier (login security and one free trial per device)
- Push notification token
- App usage logs and error diagnostics
Payments
- Subscription status, plan type, payment references
- Payments processed by Razorpay. We do not store full card or UPI credentials.
4. How we use your information
- Provide live school bus tracking and estimated arrival information
- Send trip start/end and stop-related push notifications
- Manage subscriptions (5-day free trial, ₹5/month, ₹50/year)
- Authenticate users and prevent trial abuse
- Provide customer support
- Improve reliability and security
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
5. Legal basis & consent
We process data based on consent (in-app checkboxes at registration), contractual necessity, and legitimate interests (transport safety, fraud prevention).
Parents and admins must be 18+. Students must have parent/guardian or school permission.
6. Who can see bus location
- Users with an active trial or paid subscription for that bus
- The institution admin for that school
- The assigned driver
Bus location is not published publicly on the internet.

8. Data retention & your rights
We retain data while your account is active. You may request access, correction, or deletion — see Delete Account.
Trial ledger records may be retained to enforce our one-free-trial policy after account deletion.
9. Children & minors
Student accounts may be created with parent/guardian or school permission. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.
